Countryside tent update

Here’s what’s going on in and outside the countryside tent

  • Eden’s Forest will be using a Tipi erected outside the Countryside tent to deliver their  message!
    • Outdoor Education & Learning workshops and programmes to schools, colleges, sixth forms, companies and general public. Any area of the curriculum delivered: from Stone age to Kensuke’s Kingdom.
    • Transition days, self-esteem programmes, adventure days: all delivered either on the schools site or in ancient woodland in Honley.
    • Outdoor Learning Area Site development from design & planning to construction & planting – our philosophy is that this entire process should engage all within the school community and, in particular, the children.
  • Nortonthorpe Hall School  were given a donation from Honley Show to help the school to introduce the Living Eggs Yorkshire programme into the school. The new chicken coop will help the pupils to see chickens hatching and then being reared.  There will be a display of the children’s work on this project.
  • Honley Infant and Nursery School  were also given a donation from Honley show to help the school develop their outdoor garden introducing plants to attract butterflies and other insects and to expand their herb and vegetable areas. There will be a display of the children’s work on this project
  • Kirklees College – will have a selection or their small animals on display.
  • Support to Recovery is local mental health and well-being charity. S2R’s Great Outdoors Project supports people to engage with the outdoors through either supported volunteering opportunities across Kirklees or through courses and workshops, as a way of improving their well-being, sharing or learning skills and meeting new people.
  • Huddersfield Bee Keepers will have their usual display of bees and honey products on show
  • Kirklees Active Leisure will be showcasing activities  for children to compliment health and well being
  • Dry Stone walling demonstration will be on going throughout the day in front of the countryside tent
