Funding for educational projects

Honley Infant School

Honley Show continues to support the local community and are delighted to continue their involvement with Honley Infant and Junior School.

The Show committee are keen to promote and encourage a greater understanding of farming and horticulture and with the Show’s help the School can send pupils on an educational farm visit and expand their already impressive garden area.

Funding community projects

Skate for Isaac

Honley Show is pleased to support community projects particularly where substantial  funds have already been raised by the organisers themselves.

The committee was impressed with the efforts put in by all the supporters of the Skate for Isaac project in Holmfirth which is not only in memory of Isaac Atkinson but will also be of considerable benefit to young people in the wider community.

Our community extends beyond farmers and agriculture.

Horse riding at Emley, school gardens at Farnley Tyas and ‘coffee wagon’ in Honley village have each been sponsored by Honley Show

The Honley Show has been part of village life for many years. The Show committee is made up of volunteers who all live in the area. We think it important that the wider community benefits from Honley Show. In recent years as well as sponsoring local schools  we have supported a number of other community projects including youth projects in the village, riding schemes for the disabled and promoting the use of local amenities.

Supporting local and national charities

Honley Show Charitable and Community Donations

Honley Show is pleased to support local good causes and charities. Our chosen beneficiary is supported on Show day which gives them an ideal opportunity to inform the local community about the work that they do.

We are committed to supporting the following organisations:

2015 Netherthong playgroup
2016 Macmillan Nurses
2017 Yorkshire Air Ambulance

We also offer financial support to local good causes and charities that have small one off projects/activities where funding streams are proving difficult to find.

Applications for support should be made in writing to the committee members whose addresses appear at the foot of this page. The application should clearly state the name of the organisation wanting support with a named contact, address and telephone number detailing why Honley Show should support them and how this support will benefit the wider community. The overall cost of the project and the level of financial support being requested must be clearly shown.

The project/activity to benefit should be compatible with Honley Show’s ethos of being of an agricultural, horticultural or environmental nature. Match funding will be looked upon favourably.

If successful the recipient must agree to acknowledge our investment with appropriate signage for the lifetime of the project, and to actively support us on Show day and during the preceding week.

We will consider requests from individuals providing that their request is of an educational, horticultural or environmental nature. Again applications should be in writing to one of the members listed below.

All applications for financial support should be submitted by the 31st December the preceding year. The committee will consider and evaluate all applications upon their merit. Applicants will be advised of the committee’s decision no later than the end of February. Please be reminded that the committee’s decision is final.
