Tractor Classes

The Vintage Tractor, Horticultural and Agricultural Implements Section is as well supported as ever.

Come and see the wonderful array of vintage tractors and eclectic mix of horticultural implements.

Judging will take place in the morning, and then visitors to the Show can see (and hear) them as they parade in the Main Ring at 3pm.

Look what’s coming this year!  This wonderful Threshing
Machine will not only be looking amazing, but working throughout the day to give Show visitors a taste of agricultural
life in times gone by. The proud owner, Alan Smith, will be on hand not only to run the thresher, but talk about it’s history and how it works. Although it dates back to the 1950s, it is still occasionally put to commercial use to produce long straw for thatching.
Working exhibits are always a crowd pleaser, so we are pleased that there will be a 1:2 scale model Ransome Baler running during the day.

The Tractor Exhibits this year include

1961 Porsche, yes a Porsche! Not however the sort you see racing around the Grand Prix circuits. This one must be the slowest vehicle to bear the Porsche marque as it is a 14hp, diesel 108 Junior. It is a very rare example, which has been lovingly restored to it’s former glory in 2012.

No Tractor section would be complete without evergreen Fergusons. The earliest one will be a 1947 Ferguson TED. From 1955 the Ferguson name is linked to that of Massey, with a very special registration on one of the exhibits: MBE 998. Most apt as it’s lady owner is an MBE holder.

Nor indeed, given the location of the Show, would the tractor Section be complete without the David Brown
name being represented, with a range of models on show dating from 1951.

Also on show will be
1949 Field Marshall Series 2 Contractor
1976 International 454
1960s and 1970s Ford 3000 and 4000
1954 International Harvester Model SBWD6

The Horticultural Section takes the visitor back to the days when the land was worked by hand and animal power. Besides the usual ploughs etc. see the 1947 Anzani Iron Horse.

For music while you wander, listen to the 1954 Albion Organ.

Grateful thanks are extended to all our sponsors whose support ensures the success of the Section, providing such a fantastic day out for the exhibitors that Honley Show is a must-do date on Tractor Owners’ calendars.

With many thanks to all this year’s exhibitors and looking forward to welcoming you all to the 2017 Show.

Katie Green
Tractor Section Secretary.
