Classic Cars

Presented by Judge Neil Hardy, Chairman Slaithwaite Classic Car Club, and sponsored by Ian Kellett of IK Classics, Washpit Mills, Holmfirth

More than twenty vehicles attended the Honley Show’s Classic Car event on Saturday 9th June. The results give some indication of the variety and quality of the cars on show, ranging from a mint 1980 Triumph TR7 convertible to an exceptional 1926 Austin Mayfair 20/4 Limousine. Other highlights included three Triumph Spitfires, a variety of MGs, a superb Cadillac Fleetwood, a rare 1971 Marcos and a beautiful 1962 Austin Healy 3000 Mk 2; it was quite a spectacle, and the long warm, leisurely afternoon provided plenty of opportunity for owners to compare notes and answer questions from the constant stream of curious visitors.

It was an extremely successful event thanks chiefly to the owners who brought their wonderful old vehicles up to the Farnley Tyas Showground, but also of course, to the lovely sunny day. The stage has been set for another array of stunning cars in 2019, with the prospect of several of this year’s entries reappearing to impress the crowds once again.

Our thanks to this year’s Judge, Neil Hardy, for doing such a thorough job, and to Ian Kellett who sponsored the rosettes and prizes; to the many spectators of course, but above all to the classic car owners themselves.
