Countryside Marquee
The countryside marquee has been a successful addition to
the Honley Show in recent years. The exhibitions inside and
around the marquee demonstrate a number of crafts and
leisure activities linked to the countryside. They are
entertaining as well as informative, and show how people of
all ages and interests can get involved. There are
competitions, demonstrations and practical activities, as
well as organisations looking for your support and
membership.
Our exhibitors include:
- Dry stone walling demonstration
- Bee keeping
- Walking stick making, including a regional
competition for this craft
- Fly fishing and fly tying
- Cookery demonstration
- Hedge laying
- Allotment ownership
- Wood turning
- Energy saving
- Historical Association
- Countryside Leisure
- Wildlife Trust
- and Kirklees Environment Unit
Our theme of sustainability has been strengthened through
our association with Kirklees and the ‘Green Futures’
agenda. We thank them for their support throughout this year
and in future years. Please make use of the recycling bins
around the Show field, and perhaps next year consider
leaving the car at home and using the ‘Park and Ride’ scheme
from surrounding villages.
We are constantly expanding the range and number of
exhibitors in the countryside marquee. If you would like to
showcase your organisation or activities please get in touch
with the countryside secretary, or complete the entry form
on this page.
